NCPC suspends Jerusalem pilgrimage after final batch’s return

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission has announced the end of its 2025 pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan after the final group of pilgrims returned to Nigeria safely.

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has successfully concluded its 2025 main pilgrimage, with the last group of pilgrims returning to Nigeria early Tuesday morning. The arrival took place at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at approximately 4:00 am. This marks the end of the pilgrimage season, which has seen multiple groups making the journey to holy sites in Israel and Jordan.

Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, the Executive Secretary of the NCPC, expressed gratitude for the governmental support that facilitated the five pilgrimages conducted during his tenure. He specifically thanked President Bola Tinubu, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Secretary to the Government Dr. George Akume for their backing, which he indicated was crucial for the success of these pilgrimages. The support from the government has allowed the NCPC to prioritize the logistics and welfare of pilgrims throughout the entire process.

In his statements, Bishop Adegbite emphasized the NCPC’s commitment to the safety and welfare of all Nigerian pilgrims. This concludes a significant program for many Christian faithful in Nigeria, providing a unique opportunity for spiritual growth and connection to their faith through pilgrimages. The successful conclusion of this pilgrimage cycle not only reflects well on the NCPC but also reinforces the importance of such religious voyages as a cultural and spiritual pillar for many Nigerians.
