466 Plateau pilgrims depart for Israel, Jordan March 5

About 466 pilgrims from Plateau State are set to depart for Israel on March 5, 2026, as announced by the Christian Welfare Board following mobilization and screening processes.

The Plateau State Christian Welfare Board has announced that approximately 466 pilgrims will be departing for Israel on March 5, 2026, as part of their second batch of travelers. Executive Secretary Wanson Bagu revealed that the mobilization began in late 2022, aiming to accommodate a total of around 1,120 pilgrims, including 13 from the previous year's program. Currently, screenings have been conducted for about 800 intended pilgrims, with the first batch of 295 already in Israel.

Bagu provided details on the process, stating that the mobilization initiative started in November and December last year, gearing up to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience. He emphasized the importance of conducting thorough screenings to ensure that only qualified pilgrims participate. With the first group of 295 already on their journey, the board has indicated that they are on track to fulfill the proposed statistics for the second batch, despite some pilgrims still pending screening.

This pilgrimage marks an important event for the Christian community in Plateau State, reflecting strong religious ties and the continued interest in holy journeys to Israel. Such initiatives not only foster a sense of community among the pilgrims but also represent significant cultural and spiritual experiences for the participants. With the ongoing arrangements, the board is hopeful that this year's pilgrimages will proceed without issues, enhancing the religious experience for all involved.
