São Paulo City Hall opens BRL 622 million proposal for tunnel between Sena Madureira and Ricardo Jafet
São Paulo's City Hall has opened a proposal worth BRL 622 million for a recent bidding process to construct a tunnel linking Avenida Sena Madureira and Ricardo Jafet.
São Paulo City's government has initiated a new bidding process for the construction of a tunnel connecting Avenida Sena Madureira and Ricardo Jafet, worth BRL 622 million. The proposal came from the only participant in the bidding, the Expresso Sena Madureira-Klabin consortium, and was revealed during a meeting on Tuesday afternoon. This decision to re-bid the construction comes after previous attempts dating back to a 2008 proposal faced numerous legal and environmental challenges, including tree removal and interventions by public authorities.
The City Hall's current evaluation focuses on whether the financial proposal aligns with market conditions, as the consortia’s offer was BRL 622 million. The city's administration is emphasizing transparency and diligence in reviewing the proposal, which is set to be published in the Official Gazette soon. Following that publication, there will be a legally mandated period for any appeals against the proposal, following which, construction could commence if no objections arise.
This project is significant for the local transportation infrastructure in São Paulo, as it aims to facilitate better connectivity in the southern part of the city. Stakeholders are hopeful that moving forward with the tunnel will alleviate traffic congestion and improve transportation efficiency for residents in the area, aligning with broader urban development goals. The implications of this project extend beyond transportation, potentially impacting local businesses and the economy.
