São Paulo City Hall signs agreement to expand mega-events on Paulista Avenue
São Paulo's city government has signed an agreement with the Public Ministry to allow more large-scale events on Paulista Avenue, including one in the second half of this year and two more starting in 2027.
The São Paulo city government, led by Mayor Ricardo Nunes, has signed a Term of Adjustments of Conduct (TAC) with the Public Ministry to expand the number of large-scale events allowed on Paulista Avenue. Previously, the avenue was only authorized for certain events like the New Year's Eve celebration, the São Silvestre Race, and the LGBT+ Parade. With this new agreement, the city can now host a significant event in the latter half of this year, with two additional events planned to start in 2027.
During the signing ceremony, held at the Public Ministry's headquarters in downtown São Paulo, Mayor Nunes was accompanied by his secretaries Edson Aparecido (Government) and André Lemos Jorge (Justice), with the formal agreement being endorsed by promoter Marcelo Otávio. The agreement emphasizes the city government's commitment to revitalizing the downtown area through large-scale public events, aimed at promoting tourism and boosting the local economy.
The next steps involve the approval of this expanded agreement by the Public Ministry's Higher Council. As the city enhances its event offerings on the iconic Paulista Avenue, it will likely draw increased public interest and foster community engagement, although specifics about each of the planned events are yet to be released. This initiative reflects broader trends in urban planning and management aimed at making city spaces more accessible and vibrant for residents and tourists alike.
