The National Digital Development Agency of Latvia (VDAA) has revealed that AS 'RIX Technologies' is tasked with developing additional features for the election platform used in the upcoming Saeima elections. Initially, a closed procurement process was held, but issues raised by one of the bidders necessitated changes to the technical specifications of the procurement, which would have significantly extended the timeline for bid submissions.

To ensure adherence to the necessary timelines for the development of the election platform, the decision was made to utilize the Electronic Procurement System (EIS) catalog as a procurement method to ensure timely execution. This method aims to allow for the development of only essential enhancements needed to support the Saeima election process. Five bidders have registered in the respective EIS catalog to offer their services as potential suppliers for these developments.

Moreover, it is important to note that the total sum allocated for the EIS task is capped at 999,600 euros, with funding only required to be spent on the actual development work performed rather than the total amount. This approach allows for greater flexibility and ensures the allocation meets the actual needs of the electoral process without unnecessary expenditure.
