More than 290 kg of cocaine seized from abandoned car near river in MT
The police seized over 290 kg of cocaine from an abandoned vehicle near the Guaporé River in Brazil's Mato Grosso state during a routine patrol.
On Monday, the military police confiscated a substantial amount of cocaine, totaling 267 kg of base cocaine and 32 kg of hydrochloride cocaine, from an abandoned car located beside the Guaporé River in Pontes e Lacerda, approximately 448 km from Cuiabá. The operation unfolded as part of a routine urban patrol where officers spotted a suspicious vehicle. Upon noticing the police approach, the driver fled the scene, leading to a follow-up by the police.
Upon disabling the vehicle, police found it abandoned on a nearby road with its doors left open. A thorough search of the car revealed a significant quantity of drug bundles stashed in both the back seat and the trunk. Unfortunately, no suspects were located at the scene to be held accountable for the abandoned drugs.
The seizure not only underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Brazil but also highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in the region. The confiscated drugs and vehicle have been taken to the police station for further investigation, indicating a continued effort to disrupt illegal drug operations in the area.
