Preparatory work has commenced at the Nemunas Riverbank in Žemieji Šančiai, Kaunas, focusing initially on underground tasks such as the renovation of the sewer system and the installation of a centralized city heating system. City officials, including city maintenance department head Aloyzas Pakalniškis, emphasized the importance of community involvement in shaping this space. The renovation aims to create a modern, green, and user-friendly environment for local residents.

Before the construction work began, city officials observed illegal markings on healthy trees, reminding the public that such actions could be deemed unlawful. The officials are appealing for understanding and cooperation from the community as they work on improving the area. As part of the project, lower-quality vegetation will be cleared, and existing playgrounds will be temporarily dismantled to facilitate the upgrades.
