A memorial for the band Mamonas Assassinas, who died in a plane crash 30 years ago, was inaugurated in Guarulhos, São Paulo, with family members present and special tributes including seeds to grow jacaranda trees alongside their ashes.

This week, a memorial was inaugurated for the Brazilian band Mamonas Assassinas at the Primaveras cemetery in Guarulhos, São Paulo, dedicated to the five members who tragically lost their lives in a plane crash three decades ago. The inauguration took place during a heartfelt tribute attended by the family members of the late musicians, marking a significant moment for fans and the music community alike.

The memorial features five jacaranda seeds, symbolizing each band member: Dinho, Bento Hinoto, Samuel Reoli, Júlio Rasec, and Sérgio Reoli. These seeds are stored in white urns alongside the musicians' ashes, with the intention of allowing the ashes to nourish the saplings. Following a period of incubation lasting approximately three months, the seeds will germinate and then be planted in a special garden located behind the musicians' graves, creating a living tribute to their memory.

In addition to the planting of the jacarandas, the memorial will also include information for the public through totems that will display biographical videos about each band member. Personal items belonging to the artists are also planned to be exhibited, enhancing the visitor experience and providing deeper insights into the lives of Mamonas Assassinas, which contributed heavily to Brazilian music and pop culture in the 1990s.
