Almost half a ton of unsuitable food collected in Procon operation in Araguari
Procon collected 492 kg of food unfit for consumption and shut down six establishments in Araguari during a recent inspection operation.
During a recent operation conducted by Procon in Araguari, Brazil, a total of 492 kilograms of food deemed unsuitable for consumption were collected from various bars and restaurants. This operation, which took place from February 24 to 26, involved 63 establishments and was a collaboration with the municipal Health Surveillance. By the end of the operation, 40 establishments were fined for violations, and a total of 28 infractions were recorded. Notably, three of the establishments that were shut down have since complied with regulations and resumed operations.
The issues identified during the inspections included serious failures in food storage, handling, and preservation, as well as structural irregularities that the Procon deemed as compromising food safety. The Consumer Protection attorney in Araguari, Cristina Fagun, emphasized the importance of such operations in safeguarding public health and ensuring compliance with safety regulations among food businesses. The actions taken demonstrate a proactive approach to consumer protection and maintaining hygiene standards in the food industry.
