Meats, Fruits, and Spices: Snack Bar Shut Down with 740 kg of Unsuitable Products for Consumption in Uberaba
A snack bar in Uberaba was shut down after inspectors found approximately 740 kg of products unsuitable for consumption following complaints of food poisoning.
In the Santa Maria neighborhood of Uberaba, a snack bar was closed by the State Procon after an operation revealed around 740 kg of food items deemed unsuitable for consumption. The closure came after a complaint was lodged by an attorney representing two consumers who reported food poisoning after eating products sold at the establishment. This prompted an investigation that led to the discovery of numerous health violations.
During the inspection, conducted in partnership with the Health Surveillance and Military Police, inspectors uncovered expired products and others lacking proper labeling or expiration dates. Among the problematic items were various meats, spices, and oranges intended for juice production. Additionally, some food items were found stored in open or unapproved packaging, with further violations noted regarding damaged packaging and the absence of pricing information for products and services.
In light of these findings, the State Procon has emphasized the serious nature of food safety regulations and the potential risk to public health. This case highlights the importance of vigilance among consumers and the role of regulatory bodies in ensuring safe eating environments. The closure serves as a warning to other food service establishments to adhere strictly to hygiene and safety standards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
