Temperatures will rise above +10 degrees in the warmest days of March
Latvia is expecting warmer weather in early March, possibly marking the beginning of meteorological spring as temperatures rise above zero.
In early March, Latvia is preparing for a period of increased atmospheric pressure, resulting in minimal precipitation according to meteorologists. Data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre indicates that the average air temperature has been above zero since Friday, marking a significant seasonal transition, with meteorological spring potentially starting on February 27 if the daytime average temperature remains positive.
This week and the next are expected to feature plenty of sunshine and very little rain, with the wind generally blowing moderately from the west. However, night-time temperatures may drop below zero in various locations. Predictions for the end of this week and into the next suggest that afternoon temperatures could reach between +10 and +15 degrees, though these forecasts are subject to fluctuations, indicating some uncertainty in the exact weather conditions.
These forecasted conditions are likely to reduce the risk of flooding, as any remaining snow will gradually melt away. Reports from LVÄ¢MC observation stations show that in many areas of Kurzeme and western Vidzeme, snow has already melted significantly, contributing to changes in the local environment and hinting at the arrival of spring in Latvia.
