WIY Drones, a Ukrainian technology firm, has introduced an enhanced version of their Strila drone, aimed at intercepting Iranian-made Shahed drones used in the ongoing conflict. This upgraded model not only scales up production under government contracts but also sees a noticeable price drop from $3,317 to $2,292, making it more accessible for military use. The revised pricing reflects broader efforts to increase domestic capabilities amid external pressures and ongoing hostilities.

The new Strila drone incorporates a SineLink communication system, which allows it to function independently of GPS and enhances its resilience against electronic warfare tactics, a critical factor given the sophisticated strategies employed by adversaries. Furthermore, the operator can now adapt communication channels mid-flight to maintain operational integrity, thereby improving the drone's reliability in contentious environments. Enhanced daytime and night vision capabilities also contribute to its effectiveness, allowing for more comprehensive surveillance and targeting operations.

With production ramping up to around 100 units of the new model, WIY Drones appears poised to significantly impact Ukraine's defense capabilities against aerial threats, particularly amidst a climate of increased drone warfare.
