Tajani: "New repatriation flights from the Middle East ready"

The Italian Foreign Minister Tajani announced the preparation of new repatriation flights for citizens stranded in the Middle East due to ongoing emergencies.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has emphasized the government's commitment to assist nationals who are currently stranded in the Middle East. According to a statement from the Farnesina (the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), efforts are being made in collaboration with local authorities and Italian embassies in the region to facilitate repatriation flights amidst the ongoing crisis. Today, it is expected that two special commercial flights will operate from Muscat, Oman to Rome's Fiumicino Airport, carrying around 300 people, as well as one flight from Abu Dhabi to Milan transporting approximately 200 individuals, primarily students, many of whom are minors with the World Students' Connection in Dubai.

The Farnesina has coordinated these efforts to ensure that Italian citizens receive the necessary support during this difficult time. Currently, the group of students is safely at Abu Dhabi Airport and is being assisted by embassy staff. The situation underscores the Italian government's active role in promptly addressing the needs of its citizens abroad, especially during emergencies where swift action is critical to ensure their safety and return home.

As additional flights are also planned from Abu Dhabi within the day, the response reflects Italy's broader strategy to manage consular affairs effectively in unpredictable geopolitical circumstances, reassuring citizens that their government is taking decisive steps to support them during crises in foreign territories. This initiative could aid not just those directly involved, but also instill a sense of security among other nationals traveling or residing in potentially vulnerable regions.
