LKA has released a textbook on national security and defense for grades 11-12
A new textbook released by the LKA aims to educate high school students in Lithuania about national security and defense issues, including threats to Lithuania and the world.
The Lithuanian Army's LKA has published a textbook targeted at students in the 11th and 12th grades, focusing on national security and defense. The book covers various issues, including the threats faced by Lithuania and the globe, and elaborates on the differences in foreign and defense policies between democratic and authoritarian states. It also discusses contemporary types of warfare and the characteristics of hybrid warfare, emphasizing the role of media in shaping public perception.
Additionally, the textbook addresses the public's preparedness for crises and emergencies, cybersecurity, information security issues, and the fundamentals of civil resistance. It outlines the role of citizens in ensuring state security and presents Lithuania's national security and universal defense system, including legal regimes, key security documents, and the structure and functions of the Lithuanian army in both peace and wartime.
Minister of National Defense Robertas Kaunas highlighted that the objective of the textbook is to cultivate critical thinking among citizens in light of current threats and to encourage the acceptance of responsibility for the nation's security. This educational initiative aims to prepare young Lithuanians to engage thoughtfully with national and global security challenges.
