Gyeongnam Province Promotes the Attraction of 40 Public Institutions including Korea Small Business Bank and Korea Racing Authority
Gyeongnam Province is seeking to attract 40 public institutions, including the Korea Small Business Bank and the Korea Racing Authority, to enhance regional industry and infrastructure.
Gyeongnam Province has initiated a campaign to attract 40 public institutions, including the Korea Small Business Bank and the Korean Racing Authority, as part of its strategic development plan. On the 16th of this month, the province held the inauguration ceremony for the 'Gyeongnam Provincial Committee for the Attraction of Public Institutions' at the Changwon Convention Center, laying out its framework for bringing these institutions to the region.
In targeting the over 350 public institutions located in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gyeongnam will evaluate their connection to local specialized industries. The announcement includes five key institutions deemed essential due to their compatibility with Gyeongnam's industrial strengths; these institutions lead in areas such as small and medium-sized manufacturing, defense and nuclear power, export-import scale outside the capital, and environmental development. This selection reflects the region’s economic advantages and aims to synergize with existing institutions already operating in Gyeongnam.
The Ministry of the Interior plans to determine the institutions designated for relocation by the end of the year, intensifying competition among various provinces, including Busan, Daegu, and Daejeon, which are also vying for these public entities. Gyeongnam faces a competitive landscape as the interests of these areas overlap significantly, and the province is preparing to enhance its offerings with shared facilities such as dormitories and parking to support the initial settlement of the institutions.
