Over 120 public school teachers in Cubatão are receiving training in generative artificial intelligence as part of an innovative educational program.
In a significant boost to education technology, more than 120 teachers from Cubatão's municipal schools have embarked on a groundbreaking online training course focused on generative artificial intelligence. The program, titled "IAEDU – Teachers and Artificial Intelligence: Innovative Practices in Public Education,” emphasizes the responsible, creative, and ethical use of AI within pedagogical and administrative contexts. This initiative is aligned with the national curriculum guidelines and aims to enhance educational practices by integrating modern technology effectively.
The training aligns with the municipality's professional enhancement policies and is part of broader efforts to empower teachers to critically utilize artificial intelligence in their schools. Developed by the Distance Education Center (Cemead) under the Municipal Department of Education, the course aims to equip educators with the necessary skills to incorporate AI into their everyday teaching methods. Participants will navigate through a 60-hour curriculum spread over six sequential modules that cover theoretical foundations and practical applications of AI in education.
Conducted entirely online through the Moodle Virtual Learning Environment, this initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of digital competencies among educators at all levels. The commitment to preparing teachers for the challenges and opportunities presented by AI not only enhances their professional skill set but also encourages a transformation in public education practices in Brazil, potentially leading to more engaging and efficient learning experiences for students in the future.
