Unicamp, a prominent university in Campinas, Brazil, is planning to introduce a new Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science. This initiative, pending approval from the university's highest decision-making body, the Conselho Universitário (Consu), aims to equip students with the skills to tackle real-world societal issues while emphasizing the 'responsible ethical use' of AI technology. The proposal will be presented to the Consu for a vote in the upcoming council session scheduled for March 31. If approved, Unicamp anticipates launching the program at its Limeira campus by early 2027, with a potential additional class starting in Campinas by 2028.
