Cuajimalpa strengthens security and family integration with the rehabilitation of the 'La Papa' sports center
The mayor of Cuajimalpa, Carlos Orvañanos, has inaugurated the rehabilitation of the 'La Papa' sports center to enhance family integration and public safety.
Carlos Orvañanos, the mayor of Cuajimalpa, recently inaugurated the rehabilitation of the 'La Papa' sports center located in the Loma del Padre neighborhood as part of a broader strategy to recover public spaces, improve family integration, and bolster security in the area. The rehabilitation efforts included comprehensive painting, roofing for the kiosk, upgrades to children's playground equipment, installation of rubber flooring, repainting of sports courts, and replacement of chain-link fencing. This refurbishment aims to create a more welcoming environment for families and promote community engagement.
During the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Orvañanos emphasized that this project is a fulfillment of promises made at the beginning of his administration, stating, "It is a promise kept, because in my government, the word has value." He highlighted the importance of community involvement and connection with local residents, linking the revitalization of these communal spaces to improvements in public safety, suggesting that enhanced recreational facilities may contribute to a reduction in crime rates by fostering a greater sense of community.
The initiative comes against the backdrop of a national concern regarding public safety. Cuajimalpa's recent rankings in the National Urban Public Safety Survey (ENSU) by INEGI indicate that the area has made strides in reducing crime, which local officials attribute to ongoing efforts such as this project. By investing in community spaces, the local government hopes to build a stronger connection between residents and law enforcement, ultimately leading to safer neighborhoods and more involved citizens.
