Building that Was Once Telesp Will Give Way to Complex with R$ 3 Million Apartment and 'Food Hall' on the Ground Floor
A former Telesp headquarters in downtown São Paulo is being transformed into a residential and gastronomic complex, set to open after delays in July 2023.
The historical site that was once the headquarters of Telesp (Telecomunicações de São Paulo) in downtown São Paulo is undergoing significant transformation into a new mixed-use development featuring luxury apartments and a vibrant food hall. Initially scheduled to be completed in June 2025, the opening faced delays, with a new inauguration date set for July 2023. The development, located conveniently adjacent to the República subway station, will host the Ramal food and event hub alongside the Basílio 177 residential complex.
Bruno Scacchetti, CEO of Metaforma, the real estate developer behind the project, expressed optimism about the development’s future despite the setbacks. He emphasized the project's unique attributes and its potential to enhance the central region of São Paulo, which is poised to become one of the city's prime areas in the coming decade. The project has garnered financial backing from a diverse group of investors, showcasing confidence in the commercial viability of urban renewal in this part of the city.
Furthermore, on Thursday, a consortium won the auction for a public-private partnership (PPP) to create a new administrative center for the São Paulo Government in the Campos Elíseos neighborhood, marking the beginning of transformative projects in the area. This initiative reflects broader urban development trends in São Paulo, aiming to revitalize historic districts and attract new residents and businesses into the region, which is crucial for the city's long-term growth.
