Piauí stands out in global forum with titling of 10 thousand rural families in 2 years

Piauí has gained global attention for titling over 10,000 rural families in two years as highlighted at the International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development in Colombia.

Piauí has captured international attention for its innovative model of land democratization, which has successfully titled over 10,000 rural families within a two-year period. This achievement was spotlighted during the Second International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ICARRD+20) held in Colombia, where representatives from more than 70 countries were present. The Instituto de Terras do Piauí (Interpi) showcased its efforts to enhance land regularization, modernize public management, and strengthen legal security in rural areas.

The Interpi stood out as the only state government body from Brazil invited to represent the country at this global event, alongside the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) and the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra). According to Interpi's General Director, Rodrigo Cavalcante, this international recognition indicates that the state is actively contributing to addressing issues of national importance within the realm of land governance. He emphasized that Piauí has transitioned from being a mere beneficiary of policies to being a key player in shaping agricultural reforms at a global level.

This acknowledgement from the international community not only highlights Piauí's progress but also positions the region as a model for other countries facing similar challenges in land reform and rural development. The successful titling of these families underscores the importance of equitable access to land, which is essential for improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable development in rural areas. As Piauí continues to advance its initiatives, it sets a precedent for effective governance and community empowerment in the agricultural sector.
