The Eastern Hospital receives severely injured Ukrainian soldiers for the 35th time

The Eastern Hospital in Latvia has received its 35th group of severely injured Ukrainian soldiers needing medical attention after the ongoing conflict.

The Eastern Hospital in Latvia has been on standby for the arrival of severely injured Ukrainian soldiers, who are being transported from the Ukraine-Poland border. Due to prolonged checks at the border, there was a delay in their arrival, but ultimately two buses from the Ukrainian Disaster Medical Center and accompanying ambulances arrived to deliver the patients. The soldiers varied in their injuries—some from early years of the war and others from recent assaults, including drone strikes and explosive ordnance incidents.

Among the soldiers was Vasiļs Čumaks, who recounted his experience stating that he was injured during an attack by Russian forces. He explained that this was his third trip to Latvia for treatment, noting significant improvement from his first arrival when he could not move, to now being able to move his arm and leg with medical support. Another soldier, Oleksandrs Klimenko, shared that he suffered severe injuries to his foot, with a ruptured nerve and damage to his arm, which is now beginning to regain movement after medical intervention.

The medical team is focused on assessing the soldiers' health conditions, conducting necessary tests to evaluate their injuries and to screen for multi-resistant infections. These ongoing medical efforts showcase the humanitarian response and continued support provided by Latvia to Ukrainian soldiers affected by the conflict, emphasizing the long-term impacts of the war on their lives and health.
