Eastern Hospital receives another 34 severely injured soldiers from Ukraine
An additional 34 severely injured Ukrainian soldiers have been admitted to the Eastern Clinical University Hospital in Riga, Latvia, bringing the total to 816 since the war began.
On February 27, the Eastern Clinical University Hospital (RAKUS) in Riga, Latvia, welcomed 34 more severely injured Ukrainian soldiers, as reported by the hospital's public relations specialist, Ilga Namniece. This acceptance, facilitated in collaboration with the charity project "M-Help.com," underscores the ongoing humanitarian efforts to provide medical support to those affected by the war initiated by Russia. Since the beginning of the conflict, a total of 816 patients have been treated at RAKUS, indicating a significant ongoing partnership between the hospital and Ukrainian authorities in addressing the needs of injured soldiers.
Upon arrival, the soldiers were greeted by Ukrainian charge d'affaires Yurii Zakharčuks, along with Dmitro Kindris and Natālija Bereza. Comprehensive health assessments were conducted for all incoming patients, which included various laboratory tests, especially to check for the potential presence of multi-drug-resistant infections, a crucial concern in war zones where such infections can proliferate rapidly. This rigorous health monitoring reflects the hospital's commitment to providing high-quality care amid challenging circumstances.
The emergency radiology unit's specialists conducted further imaging tests to evaluate the nature of the soldiers' injuries accurately. Based on these assessments, the patients will receive tailored medical treatment, addressing their specific health needs as a result of their injuries. This ongoing effort illustrates the broader context of international medical aid and support for Ukraine amidst the enduring conflict, highlighting Latvia's active role in humanitarian relief efforts during this challenging time.
