Chairman of the Board of 'European Railway Lines' Dzelme resigns
Māris Dzelme has resigned as chairman of the board of 'European Railway Lines', and Jānis Naglis has been appointed his successor.
Māris Dzelme, the chairman of the board of the Latvian national implementer of the 'Rail Baltica' project, SIA 'European Railway Lines' (EDzL), has resigned from his position. The resignation was confirmed by the Ministry of Transport, which accepted Dzelme's resignation and appointed Jānis Naglis as the sole board member for the company during a shareholders' meeting. He will serve a five-year term starting on Friday.
In addition to the change in leadership, amendments to the statutes of EDzL were approved, reducing the number of board members from two to one. This change reflects a decision to streamline the company's governance structure, allowing it to operate with a single board member moving forward. The restructuring is part of a broader strategy to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the company's management.
In his statement to the media, Dzelme indicated that when he took over as chairman, EDzL was facing a management crisis that required stabilization and professional handling of the 'Rail Baltica' project's implementation processes. With the crisis management phase concluded, the company is now looking for a sustainable, long-term leadership approach to ensure the continued progress of this significant railway project in Latvia.
