Grava Schools: Energy Upgrade Works Budgeted at 7 Million Euros
The energy upgrade of Greece's largest school complex, Grava, has commenced, aiming to enhance comfort and reduce operational costs for thousands of students and teachers.
In a recent inspection, the Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, examined the extensive energy upgrade works being executed at the Grava school complex, which is the largest educational facility in Greece. The project aims to significantly improve the thermal comfort and hygiene conditions within the teaching spaces, while also substantially reducing the energy footprint of the complex. This initiative seeks to create a modern, safe, and environmentally sustainable educational environment for thousands of students and educators.
The total budget for these upgrades stands at €7,016,000 (excluding VAT) and is funded by the Regional Program 'Attica 2021-2027', utilizing European resources from the region. This initiative is part of a broader plan for energy upgrades across 41 school units throughout the Attica region, with an overall investment of approximately €25 million. Such upgrades are not only crucial for current educational needs but also for aligning with global sustainability goals.
The Grava school complex, located within the municipality of Galatsi, comprises seven school buildings that will benefit from this modernization. Through these initiatives, the local government aims to enhance educational infrastructure, thus improving the overall learning conditions and reducing long-term operational costs associated with energy consumption. The successful implementation of this project may serve as a model for similar undertakings in other regions of Greece.
