Do you belong to the half of Finns who have done this in the shower at least once?
A recent survey reveals that over half of Finns have urinated in the shower at least once, with men more likely to admit to this habit than women.
According to a survey commissioned by the cleaning company Koti Puhtaaksi Oy, 55% of Finns have admitted to urinating in the shower at least once. The survey highlights a division in habits, with men being more likely to partake in this behavior compared to women. 13% of respondents indicated that they often urinate in the shower, while 45% stated they have never done so. This revelation has sparked discussions about social norms and bathroom etiquette in Finnish culture.
Reetta Alastalo, the CEO of Koti Puhtaaksi Oy, commented that urinating in the shower does not harm plumbing, provided that water is flowing normally. However, physiotherapist Johanna Koppinen expressed concerns regarding the potential negative impact on bladder function if one regularly engages in this behavior. She noted that it can lead to a conditioning response associate with the sound of water, which could influence bathroom habits.
The survey results indicate not only the prevalence of this behavior among Finns but also demonstrate the societal acceptance it has garnered, prompting further conversation around personal hygiene practices. It also opens a dialogue about individual habits and the implications these may have on health and wellness in the context of modern bathroom use.
