Even a doctor's visit is at risk today – Meteorologist warning

A dangerous weather warning in Finland has resulted in increased traffic accidents and severe conditions for pedestrians.

A meteorologist in Finland has issued a warning about hazardous weather conditions that could affect daily activities, including trips to the doctor. Reports indicate that numerous traffic accidents occurred across Finland on Thursday due to the poor weather. However, meteorologist Eveliina Tuovinen from the Finnish Meteorological Institute states that the worst of the driving conditions in Southern and Western Finland appear to be improving, as snowfall has moved towards the northern and eastern parts of the country.

Despite the improvement in driving conditions, pedestrians are advised to take extra precautions. In Southern Finland, there is a warning of poor conditions for walking, which will extend from Uusimaa to Pohjanmaa, Keski-Suomi, Pohjois-Savo, and Pohjois-Karjala. The yellow warning indicates a significant risk of slipping, with many sidewalks being extremely slippery due to a layer of ice underneath standing water. This situation emphasizes the importance of using studded footwear for safety while walking outdoors.

As pedestrian conditions worsen, emergency medical services expect to see increased activity, though reports from the Hus region indicate that emergency departments were relatively quiet as of Thursday. This suggests that while the weather poses risks, immediate urgent care demand had not drastically risen at that time. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely to ensure public safety amidst the challenging weather.
