Cheongju City Agricultural Technology Center to Operate a Plant Hospital
The Cheongju City Agricultural Technology Center will open a plant hospital starting from next month to provide consultations and treatments for houseplants.
In Cheongju, South Korea, the Agricultural Technology Center is set to open a plant hospital on June 3. This initiative aims to provide support for citizens raising houseplants, with services including telephone consultations and in-person visits to diagnose the health of the plants, prescribe treatments, and offer care advice. The plant hospital will operate until May 29, and its services are tailored for a wide array of common houseplants. However, expensive plants over 300,000 KRW, rare species, bonsai, orchids, large pots, and outdoor plants are excluded from the treatment options.
Citizens who own houseplants are encouraged to take advantage of this unique service, as they can receive free consultations for up to two plants monthly. The project is led by agricultural experts, such as Kim Gyo-mun, from the Cheongju City Agricultural Technology Center's Agricultural Culture Team. This initiative not only highlights the growing interest in houseplant care among citizens but also contributes to promoting urban agriculture in the region.
Additionally, the Agricultural Technology Center is planning to operate a special plant hospital at the Organic Marketing Center from May 14 to 17, indicating a proactive approach to enhancing agricultural education and support. This effort reflects an increasing awareness and appreciation for plant care in urban settings, potentially leading to a more vibrant community engagement with nature in Cheongju.
