Mobile Medical Center to Provide Services in 40 Villages in Cheongyang
A mobile medical center has begun operations in Cheongyang, South Korea, to provide healthcare services to residents in remote villages.
Cheongyang County in South Korea has launched a mobile healthcare initiative called the 'Visiting Medical Center,' which commenced its service on November 7, 2023, starting from Miryang 1-ri in Unuk-myeon. This innovative healthcare program aims to address the difficulties faced by rural residents, particularly the elderly and those living in areas with limited access to medical facilities. The mobile clinic, equipped with professional staff including doctors, nurses, and physical therapists, visits villages to provide essential health services directly to the community.
The initiative is a key part of Cheongyang County's strategy to enhance public healthcare accessibility and respond proactively to issues stemming from population decline. By integrating this service with community-based care systems, the program focuses on empowering elderly residents to receive medical attention while remaining in their familiar surroundings. The mobile medical center not only offers routine check-ups but also emphasizes the importance of regular health monitoring through systematic collection of baseline health data such as blood tests, fostering personalized aftercare.
According to Kim Sang-kyung, the head of the Cheongyang County Health Center, this program aims to create a vital link between the medical community and local residents by not only addressing immediate health needs but also promoting overall well-being within the community. With plans to expand its services to a total of 40 villages including 30 initial locations and an additional 10 identified for further care, the 'Visiting Medical Center' is positioned to play a significant role in improving health outcomes and supporting the quality of life for residents in Cheongyang County.
