Lagos shuts Lekki–Epe Expressway for repairs

The Lagos State Government has announced a total closure of the Epe-bound carriageway of the Lekki–Ajah Expressway for rehabilitation works.

The Lagos State Government has officially announced a complete closure of the Epe-bound carriageway of the Lekki–Ajah Expressway. This closure extends from the Admiralty Way Junction to Jubilee Bridge, Ajah, and is part of ongoing rehabilitation efforts aimed at improving the overall condition of this crucial corridor. The announcement was made in a press release by the Ministry of Transportation, signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.

In an effort to manage the flow of traffic during the closure, the government has presented a detailed traffic diversion strategy. During peak periods in the morning, vehicular movement will be rearranged to prioritize Lagos-bound traffic, allowing two lanes for this direction while funneling one lane for Epe-bound traffic. This approach aims to mitigate congestion caused by the construction and ensure commuters can still reach their destinations with minimal delays.

The ongoing repairs are vital not only for enhancing the infrastructure of the expressway but also for ensuring safety and efficiency in transportation for the large number of vehicles using this route daily. The public is encouraged to stay informed about the traffic changes and to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid disruptions during the construction period.
