Consortium MEZ-RZK wins auction to build the administrative center of the government of São Paulo

The MEZ-RZK consortium has won the bid to construct a new administrative center for the São Paulo state government, which is expected to cost approximately R$ 6.09 billion and be completed by 2030.

The MEZ-RZK Novo Centro consortium has been awarded the contract to build a new administrative complex for the São Paulo state government. This complex will consist of a series of office towers and is projected to cost around R$ 6.09 billion. It will be located near the Princesa Isabel park in the Campos Elíseos neighborhood, an area often associated with the challenges of the nearby cracolândia, a well-known site of drug use and social issues.

The construction project is part of Governor Tarcísio de Freitas's pledge to revitalize the central region of São Paulo, with the aim of transforming the urban landscape and improving public perception of the area. The new government headquarters is anticipated to be completed by 2030, promising a significant shift in the architectural and social environment of the area.

In the competitive bidding process held on Thursday, two consortia submitted proposals: Acciona-Construcap and MEZ-RZK Novo Centro. The winning consortium offered a monthly management fee of approximately R$ 69.23 million for the operation and maintenance of the buildings over a 30-year period, which was lower than the R$ 72.7 million demanded by the competing group, indicating a strategic and financially advantageous proposal for the state government.
