Health authorities have closed the Café Bar Villis in Heinola due to severe hygiene violations and unsanitary conditions found during an inspection.

The Café Bar Villis in Heinola has been shut down by health authorities following a severe inspection report indicating significant disorder and sanitation issues within the premises. The café, which offered a lunch buffet, was found to be unclean and emitted a musty odor. The inspector reported that there was an excessive amount of clutter, preventing a thorough examination of all areas, and consequently, four bags of outdated food were disposed of.

The decision to close the establishment was made on an emergency basis, as such serious hygiene problems pose severe health risks to individuals. The closure resulted from a complaint made by a customer, which prompted the inspection visit by environmental health officials. Silja Mäkelä, the head of environmental health in Päijät-Häme, noted that the inspector deemed the situation unfit for continued operation based on the findings.

This was not the first time the café had come under scrutiny; previous inspections had also highlighted ongoing issues related to cleanliness and maintenance.
