After VMVT inspection - Vilnius cafe activities halted: hidden refrigerators, mold, dirt
A seasonal company in Vilnius has had its activities suspended due to severe health and safety violations discovered during an inspection, including hidden refrigerators and mold.
A recent inspection by the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT) in Vilnius has resulted in the suspension of the café operated by UAB "Šindrona" due to significant breaches of food safety regulations. Inspectors found that the establishment had not adequately assessed its readiness to manage food processing activities, leading to dire health risks. Most notably, two refrigerators containing food products were discovered hidden outside the building, covered with decorative plastic films to avoid detection.
The inspection revealed another alarming find, with kitchen equipment and utensils in a state of disrepair, showing signs of corrosion and mold. Additionally, safety protocols were breached as a gas cylinder was found connected to the stove with wires unprotected from water, placing both the staff and customers at risk. The grilling zone was cluttered with improperly stored construction materials and outdoor work equipment, further compounding the safety hazards identified.
The VMVT's swift action underscores the importance of food safety compliance and the rigorous standards that food establishments are expected to uphold. With such serious violations uncovered, the café's closure serves as a stark reminder to other businesses about the dire consequences of neglecting food safety regulations. Authorities emphasize the necessity for regular inspections and adherence to health guidelines to ensure public safety and maintain trust in the food industry in Lithuania.
