Students of a municipal school become book authors: 'It was a surprise,' says child
Students from a municipal school in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, have experienced the joy of becoming authors through a project that inspired them to write and publish their own books.
At the Municipal School 'Deputado Sylvio Benito Martini' in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, students had the unique opportunity to become published authors, a dream many adults aspire to. This project was brought to life through the encouragement of their teachers, the support of their families, and the creative talents of the young authors. In the classroom, what traditionally was just learning turned into an inspiring workshop of storytelling where students' ideas transformed into tangible books that they could proudly share.
One of the students, Isabela Ferreira Guia, age 11, expressed her delight at seeing her poem evolve into a story, complete with illustrations by her classmate Davi Lucas Fernandes, who is only 10 years old. Isabela shared her surprise and happiness upon seeing the finished product, reflecting the excitement that comes with achieving a significant milestone such as writing and publishing a book. Davi echoed her sentiments, crediting his teacher, along with his parents, for inspiring and supporting him throughout the creation process.
The project not only fostered a love for writing among the students but also strengthened the bond between students, teachers, and families. With 702 students enrolled at the school, this initiative represents a larger trend in education where creativity and support merge to enhance learning experiences. The heartfelt stories written by these children will likely inspire more projects like this in other educational institutions, highlighting the importance of nurturing young talent in the arts.
