State of SP receives recognition from the Ministry of Education regarding literacy
The government of São Paulo has been recognized by Brazil's Ministry of Education for surpassing the national literacy goal for children at the appropriate age.
The state government of São Paulo has achieved national recognition from the Ministry of Education for exceeding the literacy target for school-aged children. Under the leadership of Education Secretary Renato Feder, the state received the gold seal from the National Commitment to Literacy program, signaling that 58% of students in both state and municipal schools are now classified at the appropriate literacy level. This achievement marks a significant improvement from the previous year, when São Paulo held a silver seal.
Several factors contributed to this success, including the training of teachers, regular assessments, and the distribution of educational materials. The state scored 118 points on an evaluation scale that tops out at 150, indicating a solid performance in educational policy and collaboration with municipalities. Renato Feder emphasized that this gold recognition reflects a strong commitment to enhancing literacy in São Paulo and highlights the state's newfound role in coordinating educational policies.
Looking ahead, the education administration plans to continue its efforts with the 'Alfabetiza Juntos SP' program, which focuses on further improving literacy rates among students. This initiative is expected to build on the achievements thus far, ensuring that the upward trend in literacy is maintained and that more children in São Paulo receive the education they deserve at the right age. The collaboration between state and municipal educational bodies is seen as pivotal to these advancements in literacy.
