Maxima Latvia is investing over 1 million euros to upgrade its store and culinary facilities in Riga, which includes significant changes to at least 10 stores this year.
Maxima Latvia has announced a substantial investment exceeding 1 million euros aimed at enhancing its store and culinary workshop in Riga. This is part of the companyβs larger strategy to align its major format stores with a unified concept while substantially improving its culinary workshop capabilities. According to communications manager Liene Dupate-Ugule, the upgrades are essential for maintaining relevance in the competitive retail market.
In addition to the renovations in Riga, Maxima plans to implement significant changes in at least 10 stores regionally throughout the year. The company is also set to open a new "Maxima XX" store in Purvciems this spring, which will create approximately 40 new jobs for the local community. This expansion reflects a growing demand for their offerings and the brand's commitment to enhancing customer experience while contributing to local employment.
As reported, Maxima Latvia operates a network of 171 stores and employs around 6,000 individuals involved in retail, logistics, and food production. The company recorded a revenue of 1.102 billion euros in 2024, a 2.6% increase from the previous year, although its profit dropped by 10.2% to 50.775 million euros. Since its establishment in November 2000, Maxima has become a significant player in Latvia's retail sector, with ownership tied to various entities registered in Lithuania.
