City Development Councilor James Stove Lorentzen expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that the new apartments will not only benefit students but also contribute to the vitality of the Økern area. The sale is valued at 123 million Norwegian kroner and awaits approval from the Oslo City Council.

The site spans 6.5 decares, and according to real estate company Newsec, there is potential for up to 455 student units to be developed. SiO was the only bidder for the property, indicating strong demand for student accommodation in this rapidly developing area. Økern is noted for its good public transport connections to educational institutions as well as local amenities such as shops and cafes, making it an attractive choice for students.

This development is part of a broader strategy to enhance student living conditions in Oslo, which has seen a rising student population.
