Free course in DF combines dance and psychotherapy as a pedagogical tool; see who can participate

A free training course for public school teachers in the Federal District of Brazil combines dance and psychotherapy as pedagogical and self-care tools, with registration open until March 13.

The Federal District (DF) in Brazil is offering a free training course for public school teachers that integrates dance and psychotherapy as educational and self-care methodologies. The project, named "Escuta de Si," is organized by the Coletivo CorpoConsciente and is funded through the Cultural Support Fund (FAC). This initiative not only provides professional development but also promotes emotional well-being among educators, emphasizing the importance of arts in education.

The course begins on March 14 and will take place at the Dance Center of the Federal District, consisting of nine bi-weekly sessions, each lasting two hours. Participants will engage with four body therapists who will introduce various techniques that merge dance with body awareness, fostering a holistic approach to teaching. This innovative program highlights the essential role of educators' mental health and creative expression in enhancing their teaching practices.

Additionally, the project ensures inclusivity as it incorporates accessibility measures, including providing course materials in Braille. This reflects a commitment to making the educational experience available to all teachers, regardless of physical challenges. The combination of dance and psychotherapy is seen as a powerful tool for personal growth and effective teaching, setting a precedent for similar future initiatives in the region and beyond.
