Mavros: PPC has doubled its installed capacity in Romania

PPC Group's Deputy CEO Konstantinos Mavros announced that the company's renewable energy capacity in Romania has doubled to 1.5 GW, with plans to reach 2 GW by year's end.

Konstantinos Mavros, Deputy CEO of PPC Group for Renewable Energy, shared the company's expansion strategy in Romania during the ZF Power Summit 2026, which is recognized as Romania's largest energy conference. He highlighted that PPC Renewables Romania has successfully doubled its installed renewable energy capacity to 1.5 gigawatts (GW) and aims to reach 2 GW by the end of the current year, reflecting the company's commitment to renewable energy in the region.

Mavros detailed several renewable energy projects currently in various stages of development in Romania, including a notable wind farm located in the Vaslui region. The first phase of the project, known as Prowind North, has achieved considerable progress, with all 23 wind turbines, each capable of generating 6.1 MW, already installed. Efforts to connect these turbines to the electrical grid are in progress, marking a significant step in enhancing the renewable energy infrastructure in the area.

Additionally, the second phase of the Prowind project, titled Prowind South, plans to install 14 more wind turbines with a total capacity of 85 MW. This advancement not only demonstrates PPC's ambitious growth plans in the renewable energy sector but also illustrates the increasing momentum of Romania's energy transition towards sustainable sources, which is crucial for meeting both national and European energy targets.
