The PPC Group has doubled its installed capacity in Romania and aims to reach 2 GW of renewable energy by the end of the year, as shared by its Deputy CEO during a major energy conference in Bucharest.
During the ZF Power Summit 2026 held in Bucharest from February 23 to 25, Konstantinos Mavros, the Deputy CEO of PPC Renewables, presented the company's strategic plans for Romania. He highlighted that the company has successfully doubled its installed capacity to 1.5 GW and is on track to reach a target of 2 GW in renewable energy sources by the end of the current year.
Mavros detailed several renewable energy projects at various stages of construction across Romania, including the noteworthy wind farm located in the Vaslui region. The first phase of the project, known as Prowind North, consists of 23 wind turbines each with a capacity of 6.1 MW already installed, with work ongoing to connect them to the grid. Additionally, the second phase, titled Prowind South, includes plans for 14 more wind turbines totaling 85 MW.
The strategic expansion by the PPC Group not only signifies a substantial investment within Romania's renewable energy sector but also reflects the growing focus on sustainable energy solutions in the region. By achieving these ambitious targets, PPC Renewables aims to bolster its market presence and contribute significantly to Romania's energy transition towards more sustainable sources.
