Pokémon, the globally popular franchise, is collaborating with Japan's 12 professional baseball teams and the Japan Olympic Committee (JOC) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its video game release. During a press conference held in Tokyo, it was announced that the event called "Pokémon Baseball Festa 2026" will feature Pokémon characters making appearances at baseball stadiums throughout the season, enhancing game presentations and hosting events to entertain fans.

One of the highlights of the announcement was the appearance of Pikachu in jerseys from all twelve baseball teams. Highlighting the synergy between baseball and Pokémon, renowned baseball player Masahiro Tanaka expressed his excitement through a video message, stating, "I’m glad to promote the allure of baseball and Pokémon together." The JOC also plans to introduce a designated "support Pokémon" for each sport at the upcoming Summer Olympics and Asian Games, aiming to build excitement for the Asian Games set to take place in Aichi Prefecture this fall.

The press event included appearances by popular comedy duo Rainbow and actress Mizuki Yamamoto, emphasizing the light-hearted and festive spirit of the collaboration. Jumpo Takaou of Rainbow expressed his desire to take a photo with the Pikachu representing the Chiba Lotte Marines, while Yamamoto smiled as she commented on the cuteness of Pikachu's custom-tailored jersey.
