WARNING: A snowstorm is expected on Thursday, rain and freezing rain may fall
A weather warning has been issued for Estonia as a significant snowstorm and ice rain are forecasted for Thursday, impacting different regions throughout the day.
The Estonian Environment Agency has announced a severe weather alert for Thursday, predicting heavy snowfall and snowstorm conditions across the country. Starting in the morning, areas such as the islands will experience intense snowfall, while mainland Estonia is expected to see a mix of rain and freezing rain as the day progresses. The weather is anticipated to worsen overnight, particularly with strong southerly winds.
In particular, late on the night of February 26th, wind gusts are forecasted to strengthen significantly, reaching 15 meters per second on the islands and up to 20 meters per second along the coast by morning. These conditions will likely pose risks to transportation and may affect daily activities for residents.
As Estonia braces for these weather challenges, authorities urge residents to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions and to remain updated on weather warnings. The mixture of snow, rain, and strong winds may lead to difficult travel conditions and safety concerns, emphasizing the need for caution in outdoor activities.
