Electricity sales company Oomi lays off staff and closes offices in Helsinki, Rovaniemi, and another location in Oulu

Oomi, a Finnish electricity sales company, has completed restructuring negotiations leading to layoffs and the closure of several offices due to a significant organizational restructuring.

Oomi, an electricity sales company in Finland, has concluded its restructuring negotiations which began at the start of the year. These negotiations included discussions with 166 employees, resulting in a reduction of 37 job positions across the company. Additionally, the restructuring will involve significant changes to the roles of about 4 to 8 employees, creating a more streamlined operational structure. According to Oomi's communications director, Päivi Saarinen, the layoffs will impact the entire organization rather than just the offices that are being closed.

As part of the business restructuring, Oomi has decided to close its offices located in Helsinki, Rovaniemi, and one of its locations in Oulu. The restructuring aimed to eliminate redundancies and align the company's operations with its strategic objectives following its acquisition of Lumme Energian’s business units. The decision to close certain offices has been made with a focus on improving operational efficiency and ensuring that the company can effectively integrate the services of Lumme Energi into its existing framework.

This significant organizational shift reflects broader trends within the energy sector in Finland, as companies adapt to new market conditions and compete for efficiencies. The outcomes of these negotiations underscore how companies like Oomi are navigating challenges and restructuring to better position themselves in a rapidly evolving industry. The impact of these layoffs on employees and the communities they serve may resonate well beyond the immediate changes, potentially influencing public sentiment towards energy companies' roles in the market.
