A new phone subscription was launched in Finland today – here’s what it is

A new phone subscription service from the energy company Oomi has been made widely available in Finland, offering both 4G and 5G options.

Oomi, a telecommunications company operating on Telia's network in Finland, has launched its phone subscriptions, providing new options for customers with both 4G and 5G connectivity. Previously, these plans were available only on a limited basis, but now they can be accessed by anyone through Oomi's website. This development aims to simplify the purchasing and maintenance process for customers, as all new subscribers can expect the same pricing across all channels.

The company has positioned itself differently from its competitors, who often engage in aggressive price competition, leading to users receiving enticing offers to remain with their current providers. Oomi, however, has opted not to follow this trend. Instead, they focus on maintaining competitive pricing without the need for this kind of customer retention strategy. According to Matti Kärkkäinen, the head of Oomi Mobiili, the goal is to provide every customer with a financially sustainable subscription, including benefits for those who also hold an electricity contract with Oomi.

As part of their offering, Oomi promises to save customers at least 30 euros per year on their electricity bills if they bundle their electricity agreement with their phone subscription. This dual-service strategy not only simplifies choices for consumers but also provides an incentive to opt for multiple services under one provider, encouraging customer loyalty while potentially lowering their overall expenses in the long run.
