Wolt begins restructuring negotiations in Finland
Wolt is initiating restructuring negotiations in Finland, affecting approximately 30 positions within the company.
Wolt, a food delivery company operating in Finland, has announced the start of restructuring negotiations that will impact around 30 jobs in the country. Currently, Wolt employs about 1,500 people in Finland, but the changes will not affect the company's roughly 10,000 couriers. The move is part of an effort to simplify the organizational structure and clarify decision-making processes as the company adapts to rapid growth and changes within the industry.
According to Wolt's CEO Marianne Vikkula, the company has hired over 5,000 employees for its offices around the world in the last two years alone. This significant expansion necessitates updates to organizational structures to ensure efficiency and quick decision-making. The restructuring negotiations are framed within a larger strategic reassessment of Wolt's international business operations, which also includes the closure of its services in Japan and Uzbekistan.
Moreover, as part of this international realignment, Wolt's parent company, the U.S.-based DoorDash, is also scaling back in other markets, including Deliveroo's exit from Singapore and Qatar. This trend highlights the competitive and rapidly evolving nature of the food delivery industry, where adaptability and efficient decision-making are crucial for companies to maintain their market positions.
