Rain is coming in all its forms

Weather forecasts indicate that various forms of precipitation will affect Finland in the coming days, making driving conditions difficult.

Weather forecasts for Finland predict varied precipitation moving across the country in the coming days, which is expected to complicate driving conditions. According to meteorologist Henriikka Heikinoja from Yle, the day will start off fair and sunny on Wednesday, with variability in cloud cover. Light snowfall is expected in the northern regions, where the temperatures could drop to around -15 degrees Celsius. As the evening approaches, a rain front is expected to arrive from the west, bringing milder conditions, especially in southern Finland, where rain may initially fall as snow.

By Thursday afternoon, most of the country will experience some form of precipitation, primarily starting as snow. In southern regions, freezing rain is a possibility, and by Thursday afternoon, temperatures in southwest Finland are predicted to rise above freezing, leading to mixed precipitation. Heikinoja notes that the existing light snow in the southwest will begin to diminish, leaving slush and wet conditions in its wake. In other areas of Finland, colder temperatures are still expected throughout Thursday, with the capital region anticipated to hover around freezing, before gradually warming up above zero on Friday.

The forecast indicates that the varied nature of the precipitation will cause potential hazards on the roads, particularly for those traveling in affected areas, stressing the importance of being aware of the changing weather conditions. Meteorologists predict that driving will become increasingly challenging as the week progresses, warranting caution for all road users as winter weather continues to impact daily life in Finland.
