In the first round of the qualifiers, she won against Ana Konjuhi from Croatia with a score of 6:3, 1:6, 6:4. Konjuhi, a former junior world number one, represented a challenging opponent, but Malõgina managed to secure victory and move on to the second round of the tournament.
