Picos will have the second unit of the House of Brazilian Women in the interior of Piauí
The government of Piauí is constructing its second House of Brazilian Women in Picos, which is expected to serve the local population by 2026.
The Government of Piauí is in the process of building a new House of Brazilian Women (CMB) in Picos, with construction overseen by the State Department of Infrastructure (Seinfra). This new unit, which adheres to a model type IV, is being constructed with an investment of approximately R$ 1 million and has already surpassed 50% completion. Current work entails substantial progress on electrical and plumbing installations, as well as construction of walls, beams, flooring, and roofing.
The CMB in Picos aims to address the needs of the surrounding region known as the Vale do Guaribas, significantly reducing the need for local residents to travel to Teresina for services. The project is expected to be completed by the second half of 2026, providing vital support to the community. According to Flávio Júnior, the Secretary of Infrastructure, this development represents a significant achievement for the state, showcasing a commitment to improving local facilities.
Once operational, the new facility will enhance access to essential resources and support for women in the vicinity, emphasizing the government’s focus on gender equality and social services. This initiative not only serves practical needs but also highlights an ongoing commitment to bettering the lives of women across Brazil, particularly in the interior regions like Picos, which is noted as one of the largest cities in the area.
