VIDEO: Memorial and Support Action 'Path of Light for Ukraine'
A symbolic march called 'Path of Light for Ukraine' is organized in Riga to commemorate the victims of the war and show solidarity with Ukraine.
From 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the association 'Tavi draugi' will hold a symbolic march in Riga titled 'Path of Light for Ukraine', aimed at remembering the victims of the war. Participants are encouraged to gather in Doma Square, where they will march together to the Freedom Monument, carrying light sources such as smartphones or flashlights to illuminate the path of solidarity and remembrance. This event underscores the ongoing impact of the conflict on Ukrainian citizens and the collective effort to honor the memory of those lost.
Since Russia commenced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the conflict has resulted in the tragic loss of tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers. The march symbolizes not only a tribute to the victims but also a rallying call for continued support and awareness regarding the suffering faced by those in Ukraine. It highlights the importance of community engagement and remembrance in times of crisis.
Throughout the day, attendees at the Freedom Monument will also have the opportunity to make donations to support Ukraine through humanitarian organizations such as 'Ziedot.lv' and the 'Tavi draugi' association. These efforts aim to provide warmth and essential aid to the Ukrainian population, showcasing how local communities can come together in support of those affected by international conflicts.
