Exhibitions in Riga remind of Ukraine's fighting spirit and suffering on the War Remembrance Day

An event in Riga brought together hundreds of people to honor Ukraine's sacrifices with performances and a visual representation of the nation's struggles against war.

On the War Remembrance Day, hundreds gathered at the Freedom Monument in Riga to pay tribute to the sacrifices of Ukraine amid an ongoing conflict. The event commenced early in the morning with a moment of silence for the victims of the war, followed by the national anthems of Latvia and Ukraine, and performances by nearly 30 choirs who volunteered to participate. Actress Guna Zariņa shared poignant narratives illustrating the harsh realities faced by Ukrainians, underscoring the brutality of the war thrust upon them.

To further emphasize the impact of the war, event attendees were invited to stand in a specially marked outline that shaped the map of Ukraine. Many participants held placards supporting Ukraine and condemning Russian aggression, with slogans demanding accountability for Russian leader Vladimir Putin and for Russia to face consequences for its actions. This visual representation of solidarity aimed to unite people and draw attention to the plight of those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
