D. Dundulis, head of 'Norfa', on competitors and G9: For now, 'Lidl' will operate
Dainius Dundulis, head of the Norfa supermarket chain in Lithuania, discusses the chain's success and competition in the retail market.
Dainius Dundulis, the director of the Lithuanian supermarket chain 'Norfa', highlights the reasons behind the company's steady growth and strong financial performance, attributing it to a diverse range of local products, an efficient discount system, and successful implementation of innovations. He emphasizes that Norfa's product selection focuses on maintaining an optimal quality-to-price ratio, which appeals to Lithuanian consumers, particularly in the category of fresh products like meat, fish, fruits, and vegetables.
Dundulis also notes that while some retail chains are shifting towards the discount store model, which offers fewer fresh product options, Norfa is dedicated to sustaining a strong supply of fresh produce to attract customers. He believes that the demand for fresh products among similar-sized stores in Lithuania is currently among the highest, which positions Norfa favorably in the competitive landscape of the grocery market.
When asked about challenges faced by the retail sector in the past year, Dundulis downplayed concerns regarding economic disruptions, stating simply that businesses must continue operating as usual. Currently, there are 160 Norfa stores operating across the country, indicating a strong presence and optimism in the Lithuanian retail market.
